So, when I say fumes, I truly mean FUMES. I did not sleep. I took a small nap this night. In bed at 2am and up at 4am, my body was no longer functioning. "Fumes" is saying it nicely. We got ourselves together to get over to catch the bus to the port in Vis. The 5am bus ride took us to our 5:30am ferry into Split. Two hours flew by as the wind whipped my hair around and the coffee surged through my veins. We ran out of this ferry to try and grab the bus to the airport that was leaving at 8am. We HAD to take this bus as the next one was coming at 9am and the hour difference could mean missing our plane at 11am. The only problem, the bus was sold out. CRAP. It is not our fault that the earliest ferry was 5:30am. We almost pooped our pants when we got the firm "no" from the bus driver. He wouldn't let our small selves enter the bus. AGHHHH. Even all our pleading was not making him change his mind. We knew there was standing space, yet he was being a butt about it. So, thinking that we definitely needed to get on the 9am one, we scurried over to buy those tickets. On our way back to the bus stop, trying to convince ourselves that the 9am one would work, we saw all the other people without the 8am tickets being let on the bus. I lost it internally. HE LET THEM ON. I asked him again to please let us on. He said no. I put on my best we-are-poor-helpless-young-girls-and-are worth-listening-to-take-pity-on-us face and asked again. Finally, I pushed so hard he probably just wanted us to stop, so he let us on. Booyah!!! I rule and will take all thee credit for being stubborn enough not to take the "no."

We rode this bus to the airport and were perfectly on time for a plane that ended up being delayed...and that is how the world works ladies and gentlemen.

I wanted to use the 10 kuna bill I had left so of course I spent it on chocolate: a wonderful dark chocolate-covered wafer bar. Better than it sounds, trust me.

Reading the lectures for the class that we had in the evening when we arrived back in Paris, I learned about the concept of "Bobos" (bourgeois bohème) and may have felt personally attacked.

The plane ride was not as peaceful as the one going. Maybe my brain was just running or the heat was messing with me. The landing though is worth mentioning because it was, without a doubt, the jerkiest plane landing I think I have ever felt. I was questioning whether or not the pilot even knew what he was doing... The wheels hit so hard, I bounced up so quickly, and my teeth clamped down quite forcefully. I was thankful to touch solid land with my own two feet.

Arriving in Orly, we took a bus to the main airport where we caught another bus to get into the city. Another heat wave is meant to hit Paris and I could already feel it rolling in.

Getting dropped off not too far from Reid Hall, we decided to make the small walk the rest of the way. Realizing we had only consumed coffee and chocolate (hmmm the meal of champions?), we decided a Carrefour run was in our future. Hummus, baguette, and cherry tomatoes filled our hands as we walked out content and looking forward to devouring our food choices. The second to last class filled with tasty hummus and juicy tomatoes. Discussing the 20e, Anna and I nonetheless participated despite not making it to any of the sites...we are just cool that way.

Tired beyond tired from the lack of sleep, we made our way back slowly to the apartment, to take a nice shower and have dinner with the host family. The fresh salad is always my favorite part.

Thinking that maybe I could get some work done, I got myself in bed to be comfortable. Well, that was my fatal mistake. The moment my body could rest, it took it and ran with it...or actually slept with it.

Very funny "Reading the lectures for the class that we had in the evening when we arrived back in Paris, I learned about the concept of "Bobos" (bourgeois bohème) and may have felt personally attacked".
