For some reason, it was beyond difficult to fall asleep last night. This, in turn, inevitably means that it was equally difficult to get up this morning.

And then...the wrath of the 15€ cherry red phone laid all its pent up anger on me. Man, did it hurt. I cannot say I did not have a flip phone in my middle school days, but the whole SIM card puzzle was not something I can say I have experience with. Wiko Lubi 5 Plus made in Marseille, France (i.e. the phone), I have a vendetta against you. WHY WON'T YOU WORK!?!

After retrieving the SIM to activate the phone number from the post office (in which I felt that the workers were nicer than in the States...although that is not saying much), Anna and I made our way towards Le Louvre, walking of course. I mean who do you take us for? We have to walk to work off all the bread. The breakfast of champions requires the matching set of exercise for champions.

We thought with our new access cards (it pays to be a student...LOL what? did you say student loans?...never mind), we could have a museum day. Much to our dismay, Le Louvre is closed on Tuesdays so instead we decided to try something new and come back to this one many times later...

We just started walking. Our goal was to get to a restaurant in the 4ème for lunch. After passing La Comédie Française and wandering through la Galerie Vivienne, the precious destination was eventually reached. Close to the falafel conglomeration from Sunday was this Israeli restaurant called Miznon. As it was packed, we chose the take-out path instead (not very French...I know, I know) and the guy who put our package of deliciousness together (i.e. a cauliflower pita and a potato pita) must have thought we were cute. I mean, he insisted on giving us extra pita and tomato sauce (like in Spain) with Tahini in our precious brown bag. No one else got pita. Our cuteness was worth 4 pitas by the way, not to brag or anything.

Sitting outside on a bench, eating some Israeli slices of paradise, it becomes even more serene when sauced cauliflower tumbles gently across a delicate chemise. Despite this small tragedy, the food remains a MUST.

Partial walk, partial metro ride to Reid Hall, we rendez-vous'd for our first official class. From 16h to 19h, class chugged on. A slight intermission to stretch out limbs meant a beeline for the coffee machine. 0,60 euros for a "long espresso" was probably more than I needed but rather respectably good for the cost.

Dinner with this summer's class at Bistro des Campagnes and my lips watered at the traditional French cuisine that hovered beneath our noses and quickly found living spaces in our stomachs. Salmon croquettes, sautéd beef, and chocolate fondant cake swirled down my throat. Topped off with tastes of rosé, white, and red, I feel like I am learning more by the minute. Very much à la française...

Potatoes in the pita. Potatoes in the croquettes. Mashed potatoes with the beef. And, fries from Anna's plate. For good measure, there were grilled potatoes from yesterday's dinner too.
